If you’re having trouble seeing Scene+ points that you have earned after using your Scotiabank or Tangerine bank card, here are a few common things to check:
Am I earning points with an eligible payment card?
You can earn Scene+ points by using an eligible Scotiabank or Tangerine card that’s linked to your Scene+ account.
Depending on your card, you may earn:
- Base points
- Accelerated points
- Bonus or promotional points

Is my card linked to my Scene+ account?
Make sure your card is properly linked to your Scene+ account.
- For Scotiabank debit cards, ensure your bank account is eligible to earn Scene+ points.
- For both Scotiabank and Tangerine, confirm the connection in your online banking profile
If your card isn’t linked, points won’t be posted to your Scene+ account until it is linked.
Was your transaction eligible?
Some types of transactions don't earn Scene+ points. These include:
- Cash advances
- Credit card cheques
- Returns or refunds
- Bill payments (Scotiabank only)
- Interest charges or fees
- Annual fees
Bonus points are also not earned on international purchases for Scotiabank Gold American Express cards.
How long does it take for points to post?
- Transactions typically post within 2–3 business days
- Once posted, points are usually added to your Scene+ account within up to 7 business days
What are Welcome Offers?
Some new Scotiabank and Tangerine cards that earn Scene+ points come with a welcome offer.
- These offers vary by card and include specific requirements, such as minimum spending or time limits.
- Make sure all offer conditions have been met before expecting points to post.

How are Welcome Points awarded for joint cardholders?
Welcome points are awarded to the Scene+ member who made the qualifying purchase.
- For Scotiabank joint cardholder accounts, it’s a good idea to check both members’ Scene+ accounts.
- Bonus points earned by supplementary/authorized users using the credit card are posted to the Primary cardholder’s Scene+ account.
Note: If a supplementary/authorized user uses their personal Scene+ membership card, points earned will be posted to their own Scene+ account.
What if Welcome Points posted to my Scotiabank joint cardholder’s account?
If welcome points were posted to the other joint cardholder’s Scene+ account, Scene+ Member Services can transfer the points.
Both cardholders will need to call together so accounts can be verified.
